About Us

Agate Women and Children Empowerment Initiative ( AWCEI) is a non-profit organization founded by Mrs. Charity W. Jiya, a legal practitioner, a member of the International Dispute Resolution Institute, and an advocate for the protection of Women and Children.

AWCEI  is an initiative of Agate Solicitors, a Law firm established in 2014. Over the years at Agate Solicitors, we realized that quite a number of referrals made to us were gender based cases which due to their nature, were mostly handled as pro bono cases. While handling such gender related cases, we realized the need to focus more on Women and Children necessitating the creation of AWCEI.

The  creation of AWCEI has availed us more opportunity to work closely with Women and Children offering them humanitarian services, helping them surmount challenges that confront them and aiding them attain their full potential.
